Eileen Mary McGraw, 90, of Masonville, died Thursday morning, July 27, 2006 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, following a brief illness.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2006 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Masonville by Rev. Jack Flaherty. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday with a 7 p.m. Scripture Service and from 9-10 a.m. Monday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery, Masonville.
Eileen was born March 28, 1916 near Monti, the daughter of John and Sarah C. (Farrell) O?Connor. She graduated from St. John?s High School in Independence and Iowa State Teacher?s College in Cedar Falls. Eileen taught country schools in the Monti area. On June 23, 1941 Eileen was united in marriage to Ronald V. McGraw at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Monti. She lived with family while he served in the Navy during WWII. Upon his return, the couple lived in Manchester before settling on the family farm south of Masonville in 1954. Ronald died in 1984.
Eileen was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Masonville, serving as a CCD instructor for over forty years. She belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. Eileen enjoyed her family, church activities, gardening and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Along with children, Eileen raised lots of dogs, cats, geese, chickens, rabbits, huge gardens and beautiful flowers.
Eileen is survived by seven children, Connie (Lloyd) Funke of Manchester, John (Brenda) McGraw of Jefferson City, MO, Carole (Loras) Weber of Robins, Colleen (Richard) Warfield of Reno, NV, Jan (Larry) Wickman of Masonville, Jim (Kandice) McGraw of Kansas City, MO and Jeff (Becky) McGraw of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Joan (Gene) Niichel of Lake Havasu City, AZ; and twenty grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Jim Funke, Laura (Ron) Chramosta & Cameron, Megan (Mike) McKenna & Kieryn, Scott (Joan) Funke & Jenna, Shaun Funke, Ron (Juliana) McGraw, Jeff McGraw, Kristen (Bruce) Bowers, Nicole Weber, Jon Weber, Kaitlyn (RJ) Johnson, Sarah McGraw & Joseph, Tre and Schuyler, Aaron McGraw, Jason Wickman & Blake and Baylea, Chad Wickman, Kelley Wickman, Connor Wickman, Jesse Walker-McGraw, Zach McGraw and Shannon McGraw.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, John & Sarah O?Connor; husband, Ronald McGraw; a sister, Dorothy O?Connor; and five brothers, Richard, Reynold "Bud?, Vincent, Kenny and Glenn O?Connor.
