Eileen D. Keenan, 86, formerly of Manchester, died Monday evening, June 11, 2007 at the Buchanan Co. Health Center, Independence, after a short illness.

Eileen Dorothy Keenan, was born May 27, 1921, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Richard E. & Christine (Nemmers) McMahon. She graduated from Manchester School in 1938. She then worked in the Tom Tracey home. On June 3, 1941 Eileen was united in marriage to Francis Keenan at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Masonville, Iowa, by Rev. O’Sullivan. The couple farmed 27 years south of Masonville. In 1968, they moved into Manchester. Eileen did sewing alterations in her home for thirty years and worked at Best Cleaners for three years. She lived all of her life in Delaware County.

Eileen is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, our Lady of Fatima Study Club, and the Rosary Society. She loved to play cards and enjoyed time with her family and many good friends.

Eileen is survived by her five children and their spouses, Norma (Gene) Steffen of Pearland, TX, Nancy (Rod) Spence of Des Moines, Tom (Chrystie) Keenan of Maysville, KY, Mary (Steve) Higgins of Independence, and Ted (Lynn) Keenan of San Diego, CA; a son-in-law, John (Sandi) McCann of Des Moines; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Kay (John) Tegeler of Manchester; and a brother, Joe (Ruth) McMahon of Manchester.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Richard & Christine McMahon; her husband, Francis Keenan in 1998; a daughter, Carolyn McCann; a sister, Rose Miller; and a brother, Richard McMahon.
