Eileen E. Bannick, 82, of 1182 Elim Dr, Marion, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Linn Manor Care Center, Marion, following a brief illness. Memorial Services: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where the family will greet friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Parker Knoll will officiate. Inurnment: Inland Cemetery, Bennett, Iowa.

Survivors include her sons, Ron Rhoads and wife Phillis of Greenbay, Wisconsin, Bruce Rhoads and wife Karen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Gary Bannick and wife Kay of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jack Brubaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Harry Rhoads and Harlan Bannick; and three brothers, Raymond, Richard and Russell.

Eileen was born April 7, 1920, the daughter of Thuel and Lillian Johnson Brubaker, in Davenport, Iowa. She married Harry Rhoads on December 26, 1936, in Clarence, Iowa.

They divorced in 1943. Eileen later met and joined in marriage to Harlan Bannick on August 20, 1947. He died October 28, 1989. She worked at different jobs throughout her working years. Eileen did her part during World War II as Rosie the Riveter driving a forklift truck and various other jobs at the Rock Island Arsenal. She enjoyed being around people and having fun. Eileen loved to sit outdoors to enjoy her flowers and to watch the birds that visited her bird feeder. She also received much joy from her feline friend, Snickers.

Memorials may be made to St. Luke?s Hospice in memory of Eileen.
