Edward "Ed? Zieser, 95, of Walker, died Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at West Village Care Center, Independence, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2004, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Walker, by Father Gabriel Anderson. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Walker with a Rosary beginning at 5:00 p.m. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Walker.
Survivors include a son, Frank Zieser of Troy Mills; his grandchildren, Allan Zieser of Hiawatha, Jeannine Larcom of Becker, Minnesota, Steve Zieser of Cedar Rapids, Roger Zieser of Marion and Jennifer Peterson of Walker; five great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Paul Larcum, Austin, Amber and Alexa Peterson; and a sister, Frances Stebbins of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Armedia; a son, Ronald; his brothers, Joe, Art, Lawrence, Elmer, Raymond and Walter Zieser; and his sisters, Mary Tarpy, Lucille Scott, Catherine Beuter and Margaret Hamling.
Ed was born May 7, 1909, the son of Frank and Elizabeth Hoffman Zieser, in Walker, Iowa. On January 31, 1940, he was united in marriage to Armedia Hamling. She died in 1997. A resident of the Walker area most of his life, Ed farmed until 1970 and then owned the Standard Oil Station in Walker for many years before retiring.
Ed was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Farm Bureau. A craftsman, he enjoyed making lawn ornaments, gardening and loved to go fishing in Minnesota.
