Edward George Schiller, 82, of Central City, Iowa, passed away Sunday morning, December 22, 2024. He was diagnosed with a "blood disorder" in September '24, which rapidly progressed into leukemia. Per Ed’s wishes, no services will take place. Inurnment will be held in the spring of 2025 at Mount Clark Cemetery in Central City.

Ed's life was filled with many opportunities, in which he took! :) He was a diesel mechanic in the L Navy and worked for Pacific Electrical Co. in Southern CA, Square D Co. in Cedar Rapids, IA, and Iowa Electric, Cedar Rapids. In 1973, Ed joined the Mobil Oil Corporation and purchased a Mobile Oil Station in Westminster, CA (1973-1983). He then moved his young family to Yosemite Lakes Park in Coarsegold, CA, where he bought Kirby Sheet Metal Heating & Air; he sold Kirby Sheet Metal in 1993 and built a True Value Store on his commercial center property in Coarsegold, CA, which housed a gas station/mini-mart, dentist office, restaurant, hardware store, and nursery. He retired and sold the commercial center in 2016.

Ed loved hot rods and owned many. Drag racing (nostalgia and NHRA) was his passion, and putzing around on his small acreage in Waubeek, IA, over the past few years was his favorite thing to do. Ed met Gina “Raegina” in 1978 in Oakhurst, CA, where they started dating and married in February 1992. They built a home in 1990 in Oakhurst, CA, and sold it in 2017 to move back to Iowa, where Ed was raised, to be closer to Ed's sister. Ed enjoyed "coffee with boys," being home, being quiet, and minding his own business. He was very much a loner; go figure, he married me! :)

Ed is survived by his wife, Raegina M. Schiller; two sons, Edward R. Schiller of Billings, Montana, and Brian J. Schiller of Fresno, CA; seven grandchildren, Eddie Schiller, Ayla Schiller, Russell Schiller, Ashley Schiller, Kylie Schiller, Hailey Hart, and Harmony Hart; and a granddaughter, Lillian M. Schiller.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. Schiller and Luella (Wilde) Schiller; sister Jackie Bendel and her husband Ray Bendel; sister Carolyn (Schiller) Landergott; brother George “Jed” Schiller; and daughter Heidi (Schiller) Hart.

The family of Edward Schiller would like all donations to go to the American Legion of Central City, IA, Hall-Perinne Cancer Center of Cedar Rapids, Hospice of Mercy, Marion, IA, Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha.
