Edward C. Ransford
December 26, 1925 — June 9, 2005
Edward C. Ransford, 79, of 206 Sunset Lane, formerly of Marion, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center, following a short illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Del Bear. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Private family burial will be at Forest Chapel Cemetery in rural Anamosa.
Survivors include a daughter, Margie Ransford of Marion; three sons, Carl (JoAnne) Ransford of Cedar Rapids, Ron (Wendy) Ransford of Marion and Don (Sharon) Ransford of Robins; two brothers, Raymond St. John of Cave City, Arkansas and Fred Ransford of Indianola; companion, Marjorie Johnston; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; a son, John; two sisters; and a brother.
Edward was born December 26, 1925, the son of William Seymour and Mabel (Berger) Ransford in Highmore, South Dakota. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII. On February 6, 1949, he married Dorothy Windsor. She died March 13, 1989.
