Edna Mae Mooney, 88, formerly of Marion, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center, following a long illness. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, Iowa, where a parish vigil service will begin at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2007, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph, Missouri, where a rosary will be recited at 2:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2007, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Joseph, Missouri. Burial: Mt. Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph, Missouri.
Survivors include two sons, Bob Mooney and wife Colleen of Davenport and John Mooney and wife Kristy of Cedar Rapids; a brother Earl VanCleave of St. Joseph; five grandchildren, Terri, Traci, Cindie, Tim, and Ann; and three great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Tyler, and Noah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; two brothers; and five sisters.
Edna was born August 17, 1918, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Groux) VanCleave in St. Joseph, Missouri. She received her education at the convent in St. Joseph?s Missouri. Edna married Charles A. Mooney on October 29, 1941. He died August 2, 1974. She worked at Rockwell Collins for twenty-nine years as a stringer in the Plating Department. Edna was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion and the Daughters of Isabella in St. Joseph, Missouri.
