Edna Miller, 83, of Marion, passed away on December 17, 2017, in Robins after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. The family will greet friends from 4 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion, conducted by Pastor Dennis Johnson. Burial will follow at Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.

Edna was born November 21, 1934, near Luana, Iowa, the daughter of Harvey and Ellen Rongstad Rolfs. She graduated from Decorah High School and attended Luther College. Edna later moved to Cedar Rapids, and on August 2, 1969, married Ted Miller in Rock Island, Illinois. Together they raised their five children in Marion. Edna graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1978, from St. Luke’s School of Nursing. Other than being a mom and grandma, becoming a nurse was her proudest accomplishment. The residents of Crestview Acres, Linn Manor, and Willow Gardens Care Center were the fortunate beneficiaries of her care prior to her retirement. Attending her grandchildren’s sporting and other school activities brought her much happiness.

Edna was a member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection and was active with the Comforting Hands Quilters. She had also served as a den leader for Cub Scouts and as a group leader for Blue Birds and Campfire girls for her children. Many of the children in those groups still recognize and cherish her influence in their lives.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Miller, and her children Emily, Jared, and Blake Almandinger, all of Marion. Also surviving are Ted’s children, Dixie Sexton (Charlie) of Marengo, Kathryn Offerman (Larry) and Steven Miller (Jean) of Marion, and Janice Miller of Missouri, as well as their children, Brooke Bowser-Collins, Melissa Irlbeck, Billy and Tony Offerman, and Sean and Sarah Miller; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Livingston (Jim); a brother, Benne Rolfs; and sister-in-law, Lavonne Rolfs. Edna was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Howard Rolfs; sister and brother-in-law, Elinor and Kenneth Jensen; and niece Wendy Jensen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion High School Athletic Boosters or Marion High School Music Boosters, or directed to the family in Edna’s memory.
