Edith Lucile Domer Weller, formerly of Springville, left her loving family on Earth on Sunday, July 1, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, at the age of 89 years, 10 months, and 24 days, after a long and busy life devoted to children and service. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church, rural Marion. The family will greet friends 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her children, Susan (Frank Nejedly) Weller of Springville, David (Janis) Weller of Robinsdale, MN, Nancy (Richard) McCormick of Council Bluffs, IA, Keith (Susan) Weller of Central City, Roger (Debra) Weller of Springville, Amy (Thomas) Keating of Marion, and Martha Noyes of Marion; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Faye Neal, Donna (Melvin) Wraspir, and George (Nancy) Domer; sister-in-law, Marjorie Fulton; and brother-in-law, Walter Stripe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Clara Domer; husband, Earl; son, Brian Weller, sisters, Barbara and Zona; brother, Laurance; and son-in-law, Dr. Richard Noyes.

Edith was born August 7, 1922, in rural Linn County, the daughter of Ivan Percy and Clara (Nielson) Domer. She married Earl Weller on June 19, 1948, at Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church, Marion. Edith attended North Star School and Springville High School. She attended Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) majoring in elementary education. Edith began her teaching career at a number of one room school houses in Linn County. She also taught at Marion, Viola, and Central City. Edith took a personal interest in all of her students, and took great pride in hearing how she made a difference in their lives. She was a lifelong member of Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church. Edith was a member of the Emmaus Community, Master Gardeners, a longtime 4-H Leader, and a member of North Star Homemakers. She was known by many as the “Kolache Lady” at the Marion Farmer’s Market and was famous for her baked goods and homemade candies.
