Edith M. Nikodim, 90, a longtime resident of Bertram, most recently of the Hiawatha Care Center, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at the care center, following a short illness. Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial: Campbell Cemetery, Bertram.
Survivors include her sons, George A. Nikodim and wife Margo and Gary J. Nikodim and wife Marla, all of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Loren O?Connor and wife Angie of Leesburg, Florida; two grandchildren, Barry Hollan and wife Jacque, of Las Vegas, Nevada and Steve Hollan (Julie Thompson), of Cedar Rapids; and two great-grandchildren, Dakota John and Shae Hollan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Edith was born December 9, 1913, in Lisbon, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Gladys (Dyson) O?Connor. She attended school in Lisbon, Mt. Vernon and Cedar Rapids. On January 21, 1934, she married George L. Nikodim. He died July 10, 1988.
Edith enjoyed cooking, sewing and taking care of her family. Her home was her castle.
