Edith J. Covington, 94, of Walker, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a brief illness. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2015, at Walker Bible Church, Walker, by Pastor Aaron Covington. Private Family Graveside Service: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include her five sons, Eugene (Alice) of Clarence, Gerald (Glenda) of Lauri, MO, Dennis of Cedar Rapids, Steven (Cathy) of East Berlin, PA, and Darwin (Deb) of Walker; daughter-in-law, Renee Covington of Monticello; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Akers of Troy Mills, Wilma Akers of Central City, and Doris Henderson of Anamosa; and four sisters-in-law, Betty Price of Cedar Rapids, Carmelita Lentz of Hiawatha, Ula Mae Carpenter of Seely, MT, and Virginia Wilson of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Covington; daughter, Janet; son, Greg: and daughter-in-law, Lorraine.
Edith enjoyed a long and healthy life, and is lovingly remembered by family and friends. She was a long standing member of the Walker Bible Church. Edith was born November 25, 1920, in Arlington, Iowa.
