Edith L. Core, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, October 13, 2002, in ManorCare Health Services, Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness. Memorial services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2002, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Julie Poulsen of New Creation United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. Inurnment: Linwood Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include, many nieces and nephews including, Odessa Brorby, Toni Ague, Myra Race, Robert Dingle, Kathy Warren, Bruce Huff, Phyllis Tonne, Janet Kulhavy, James Riley, Carole Valentine, Bill Riley and Meryln (Gene) Hite; friends, Clint and Sandi Eustler of Staunton, Virginia, and Laverna Hanson of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Odessa Dingle and Audrey Huff; and a brother, Robert Huff.
Edith was born January 19, 1919, the daughter of Robert and Myra (Bates) Huff, in Ottumwa, Iowa. On February 9, 1948, she married John C. Core in Geneva, Illinois. He died August 22, 1996. Edith enjoyed traveling with her husband, bowling, sewing, playing cards and crafts. She was a former member of the Eastern Star, Elks Club, and Bethany Baptist Church in Ottumwa. Edith also attended the VFW.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Edith.
