Edgar’s New Orleans family has run Abry Brothers, a shoring and foundation repair company, since 1840.
He graduated from Jesuit High School, New Orleans in 1955. After attending Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, he joined the Army and served in the Army Security Agency at Herzo Base, Herzogenaurach, Germany, from 1957-1960.
After returning to civilian life, he began work in the hearing aid industry. He met Sally Feuer at Beltone, Chicago, Illinois, and they married. They lived in Palatine, Illinois and raised three children, Michael, Brian, and Dennis. He enjoyed driving his Triumph Spitfire convertible around town.
Edgar moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1993 and opened the Abry Hearing Aid Center. He was honored to help the eastern Iowa community hear better.
Edgar and Sally amicably divorced. Edgar married Mary Hutchison in 2005. Edgar and Mary enjoyed spending time with their friends at The Red Lion in Cedar Rapids.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Ann McGehee and Carmel Patterson.
