Earl E. Langfitt, 77, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family on Sunday, December 16, 2018, under the care of UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospice. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood, Cedar Rapids. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Linwood Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will then host a reception from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 1820 West Post Road SW, Cedar Rapids.
Earl was born February 27, 1941 in Grand Junction, Iowa to Orland and Naomi (Brown) Langfitt. He was united in marriage to Sandra Tollefson on July 8, 1962 in Decorah, Iowa.
Earl worked at Link Belt Speeder for sixteen years, and later retired from Midwest Metal as a metal welder. He enjoyed woodworking. Earl was always ready to lend a hand. His family will remember him for his strength and love.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra, of Cedar Rapids; three children, Teresa (Danny) Wagner of Gilbert, Arizona, Tami (Reid) Boyer of Cedar Rapids, and Brian Langfitt of Marion; eight grandchildren, Adam and Allison Lyons, Samantha Wagner, Annie and Steven Pahl, Harrison, Ewan and Catcher Langfitt; and siblings, Betty Bramow, Opal Miller, Robert (Nancy) Langfitt, and Jean Korff.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Sonny Langfitt, Alma Gilmore and Donald Langfitt.
