Earl Jayson Cassidy
September 19, 1921 — August 31, 2008
Earl J. Cassidy, 86, of 1470 Parkview Drive, Marion, Iowa, died Sunday, August 31, 2008, in Crestview Acres Nursing Home, Marion, following a long term illness. Graveside Service with military rites: 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Heath; daughter, Linda (Stanley) Althoff of Princeton, Minnesota; three step children, Tammi, Traci and Trent; five grandchildren, Jodi, Sheri, Amy, Laurie and Theresa; two step grandchildren, Brittani and Brook; thirteen great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; and one brother, Milo “Pete” Cassidy of Yuma, Arizona.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven E. Cassidy; two brothers, Jim and Art; and three sisters, Loretta, Jessie and Lucille.
Earl was born September 19, 1921, in Backus, Minnesota, the son of Jess and Maude (Metzgar) Cassidy. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. Earl was a “super mason” for 64 ½ years and was a superintendent of masonry before retiring in 1980.
Earl enjoyed collecting quarters, building things, gardening and loved people.
A memorial fund has been established in Earl’s memory.
