Earl L. “Bud” Coghlan, 77, of Manchester, died Sunday, March 2, 2008 in his home from cancer.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Thorpe Cemetery, rural Manchester.

Earl was born January 29, 1931 in What Cheer, the son of Earl T. & Ada A. (Clark) Coghlan. On February 3, 1961, Earl was united in marriage to Rosemary Ann Smith in Marion. Earl worked as a mechanic for Webb’s Transmission in Cedar Rapids. Earl enjoyed music and woodworking.

Earl is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rosemary Coghlan of Manchester; seven sons, Michael (Barb) Coghlan of Dyersville, Ron (Trudy) Yarrington of Mechanicsville, Randy Coghlan of Toddville, Rod Yarrington of Monticello, David Coghlan of Marion, Allen (Marilyn) Coghlan of Asbury and Daniel (Tricia) Coghlan of Robins; one daughter, Brenda (Will) Morris of Manchester; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Vivian (Dale) Lytle of Solon, Bonnie (Leland) Heisdorffer of Sigourney, Devota (Wesley) Koudelka and Lois Harris, both of Cedar Rapids and Jean (Harry) Boren of Iowa City.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; and four children, Robert, Roger and Ann Marie Coghlan and Denise Hain.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a fund to be established.
