Earl Ray Bills, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, January 15, 2015, in his home in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness. Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2015, at First Baptist Church, Marion, by Rev. Randy Bobzien. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church in Marion on Monday. Burial: Oakshade Cemetery, Marion. Lunch will be provided at the church immediately following the burial.

Survivors include his brother, William F. Bills of Cedar Rapids; nephew, William D. (Debbie) Bills of Cedar Rapids; niece, Pam (Gary) Kaufman of Henderson, NV; nephew, Michael Frank (Sandra) Bills of Cedar Rapids; and great-nieces and nephews, Megan, David, Haley, and Kelsey Bills, and Zach, Jake, and Sarah Kaufman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Evelyn Bills; and sister-in-law, Mary Jo Bills.

Earl was born May 19, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Wendell and Evelyn (Eckhart) Bills. He was one of the founding owners of Bills’ Brothers Furniture. He retired in 2008. Earl will be remembered as a kind and gentle man. He was generous, selfless, and a true family man. Earl loved going “garage saling” and collected transistor and crystal radios. He enjoyed tinkering, fixing things, and then loved to give away things he had put together. Earl’s hobbies included collecting cars, visiting with neighbors, friends and employees. Earl was a loving son, brother, and uncle, and will be greatly missed.
