E. Gary Glass, 65, 4066 Water Point Court SW, died Saturday, November 29, 2003, at St. Luke?s Hospital, from a massive heart attack. Services: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids by Rev. Gary Dobbins. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at the funeral home. Lunch will be served at Sharon United Methodist Church following the committal. Entombment: Linwood Mausoleum.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Margaret; a son, Gregg of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Melanie Koenighain and husband Greg of Hiawatha; and three grandchildren, Stephanie Glass, Brenden and Kaylee Koenighain.
Gary was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, on February 3, 1938, the son of George and Maxine Glass who preceded him in death. He married Margaret Allen on June 13, 1959, in Marshalltown, and graduated from Iowa State University in 1960. Gary was employed at Wilson?s and Farmstead Foods for thirty years as a hog buyer until the plant closed in 1990. He then worked at the Kalona Sales Barn, and most recently at Guppy?s On the Go, convenience store. Gary also volunteered over 5000 hours at the St. Luke?s Hospital Gift Shop. He was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church. Gary loved to vacation in Branson and play cards and games with his friends. He also loved his two dogs, Koko and Mandi. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
