DuWayne A. Jilek, 46, of Marion, died Sunday, April 11, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. Services: 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 16, 2010, at Faith Lutheran Church, Marion, by Katie Lowe Lancaster. The family will greet friends from 4 – 8 p.m., Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Private Family Burial.
Survivors include his wife, Shelley; and his two daughters, Amanda and Lauren. His parents, Wayne and Diane Jilek; mother-in-law, Marjorie Anderson of Clifford, North Dakota; grandmother, Anna Privratsky of Dickinson, North Dakota; siblings, Darryl (Karla) Jilek of Wahpeton, North Dakota, Dianna (Phil) Hansen of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Doug (Deanna) Jilek, of Dickinson, North Dakota, Dean (Diane) Jilek of Roseville, Minnesota, Dale (Adia) Jilek of Augusta, Georgia, and Dwight (Alyssa) Jilek of Northfield, Minnesota; brothers and sisters-in-law, Debbie (Lynn) Holbrook of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Mary (Dan) Abramowski of Buffalo, Minnesota, and John (Rilla) Anderson of Clifford, North Dakota; and many well-loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Albert Privratsky; paternal grandparents, Anton & Sophie Jilek; and father-in-law, Gordon Anderson.
DuWayne was born February 13, 1964, the son of Wayne and Diane (Privratsky) Jilek, in Dickinson, North Dakota. He graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and earned his Executive MBA Degree from the University of Iowa. DuWayne married Shelley Anderson on June 13, 1987. He worked as a Principal Marketing Manager for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids and was a member of the Ascension Lutheran Church and the Ascension choir.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in DuWayne’s memory.
