Duane W. Hoffa, 82, of Marion, died Thursday, June 11, 2009, at home following a lengthy illness. Memorial Services: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, by Rev. Tom Parrott. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary; his children, Diane Hoffa (Pat) Lanteri of Marion, Matt (Sandy) Hoffa of Cottage Grove, MN, Brian (Laura Flores) Hoffa of Little Elm, TX, Laurie (Tom) Spears of Vancouver, WA, and Greg (Annette) Hoffa of Marion; 14 grandchildren; Austin, Preston, Jocelyn, Mike, Matt, Ryan, Tony, Josh, Joey, Josh, Dani, Adam, T.J., and Katie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Lyle and Gene Hoffa.
Duane was born on May 25, 1927, in Moorhead, MN, to Lucius and Hannah (Hanson) Hoffa. He served in WWII with the 40th Battalion of the U.S. Navy Seabees, in Okinawa, Japan. Duane was married to Mary M. Gogg on November 8, 1952, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. He worked as a mechanical engineer with Collins Radio for 33 years, retiring in 1981. Duane was also a realtor for Skogman Reality for many years. He enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing horseshoes, and loved spending time with his family and friends. Duane was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Duane’s memory.
