Douglas Wayne Engle, Sr., 39, of 840 Orchard Rd., went to be with our Lord Thursday, October 23, 2003, in Washington, Iowa. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2003, at Marion Christian Church by Rev. Dr. Robert Kunz. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion and one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa; his parents, Wayne and Shirley of Marion; his mother-in-law, Ruth Miller of Cedar Rapids; his children, Douglas Jr. "D.J.?, Lindsay, Sarah and Craig, all at home; his brother, Dave Engle and wife Maureen of Cedar Rapids, and their children, Kristin, Luke and Melissa and her daughter, Olivia; his brother, Dan Engle and wife Janet and their children, Ben and Mallory; and his sister, Sue Engle and her children, Jesse and Rachael Davis.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Doug was born December 27, 1963, the son of Wayne and Shirley (Johnson) Engle in Cedar Rapids. On July 19, 1985, he married Lisa Miller at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. He served with the U.S. Army from 1985-1987. Doug was employed by ESCO Electric for most of his life.
Doug was an avid Cubs, Bears and Hawkeye fan. He loved sports, especially golfing, shooting pool and had coached his son, Craig?s Little League Baseball team. Doug also enjoyed cooking and grilling for his family. His proudest accomplishments were his children who he loved so very much. Doug was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Doug?s memory.
