Douglas H. Bentley, 55, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died following a short battle with cancer on February, 2, 2017, at Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, Iowa. Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Doug is survived by his siblings, Darlene Bentley, Deborah (Ricky) Engel, Cindy Clemons, Mark Bentley, and Renita (Douglas) Van Dee, all of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Doug was born May 6, 1961 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Claude and Shirley (Benesh) Bentley. He was a “self-named” Jack of all trades and Master of none. Doug had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and playing on his quad. Doug liked to keep himself busy and he would reach out a helping hand to anyone anytime.
