Douglas P. Barbier, 50, of South Amana, Iowa, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 25, 2009. Celebration of Life: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at River of Life Ministries, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Steve Irwin. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Denise; his mother, Donna (Cotton) Barbier; children, Andrew Barbier of Peoria, Illinois, Justin Van Fleet of Cedar Rapids, Cody Van Fleet of Cedar Rapids and Shalena Van Fleet of South Amana; brother, Michael (Serina Ray) Barbier of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Debra Trimarco of Venice, Florida; and special aunt and uncle, Robert and Pat Forbes of Dubuque.
Douglas was preceded in death by his father, Thomas; brother, Stephen; and a niece, Crystal Barbier.
Born September 4, 1958, in Keokuk, Iowa, Douglas was the son of Thomas and Donna (Cotton) Barbier. On August 21, 1999, he married Denise Van Fleet in Cedar Rapids. He worked in sales for Ovation Network.
Douglas attended River of Life Ministries, was involved with Proverbs Ministries and was a gifted Bible teacher. He also loved to fish and golf, but most of all he loved serving the Lord.
