Dorthy A. Lovell, 90, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Alburnett, died Thursday, November 20, 2008, at the care center from complications of alzheimers. Services: 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by the Rev. Fred Mellberg. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, November 23, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of almost 72 years, James; children, Donald (Sharon) Lovell of Shellsburg, Iowa, Ruby (Jack) Wethington of Stanwood, Iowa and Dixie (David) Carothers of Hiawatha, Iowa; grandchildren, twins Richard and Robert Lovell, James Lovell, Randy Lovell, Ronald Lovell, Marty Lovell, Sandra Miller, Barbra Ruiz, Chuck Lovell, Lonnie Lovell, Ron Lamphier, Debra Wilson, Connie Dahlin and Dave Carothers, Jr.; 30 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Lovell of Cedar Rapids; and sister-in-law, Myrla Edaburn of Cedar Rapids.
Dorthy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Melvin Lovell; brother, Raymond Edaburn; and sister, Lena Serbousek.
Dorthy was born July 19, 1918, in Center Point, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Katie (Lindsey) Edaburn. On December 12, 1936, she was united in marriage to James Lovell.
Dorthy enjoyed craft work, gardening, going to parades and loved to dance, especially square dancing.
