Dorothy Marie Ziel (O'Neal)

Dorothy M. Ziel, 90, of Earlville, died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Family will greet friends from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2009 at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home and Creation Service in Earlville, IA. No immediate funeral services are planned.
Dorothy was born June 24, 1918 in Strawberry Point, the daughter of Vernon and Merle Lois (Lang) O’Neal. She was united in marriage to Louis R. Ziel, December 3, 1938. The couple lived near Colesburg on the Clifton-Klaus farmstead, moving to Manchester in 1962. Dorothy moved to Earlville in September 2006.
Dorothy enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, cross stitch and collecting salt and pepper shakers and magnets.
Dorothy is survived by six children, Laverne Ziel of Earlville, Floyd (Betty) Ziel of Petersburg, Janice Kruse of Earlville, Roger (Betty) Ziel of Manchester, Ivan Ziel and Victor Ziel both of Earlville; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia “Patsy” Williams of Osage.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Merle Lois O’Neal; her husband, Louis Ziel in 1984; one son, Walter Ziel; one infant daughter, Rose Ziel; and two sons in infancy; one son-in-law, Melvin Kruse; four great-grandchildren, Abigail Ziel, Tyler, Megan, and Haylee Hansen; two sisters, Donna and Helen; one brother, Vernon “Jr” O’Neal.
