Dorothy Ann Wolfe (Grieff)

Dorothy Wolfe, 95, of Ryan died Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA following a short illness.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ryan by Rev. John Flaherty. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2009, at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, where there will be a 3:00 p.m. Rosary Service and a 7:30 p.m. Scripture Service. Burial will be in the St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Worthington, IA.
Dorothy was born November 24, 1913, the daughter of John Peter and Mary (Murphy) Grieff on the family farm near Hopkinton. One of ten children, she grew up attending school in the Hopkinton area and helping on the family farm. On February 24, 1938, she was united in marriage to Charles J. Wolfe. The couple farmed, moving to Ryan in 1951. After Charles death in 1966, Dorothy moved to Ryan.
Dorothy was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Ryan and the St. Anne Study Club. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and playing and hosting card parties. Dorothy also enjoyed going to the casino with Vinnie.
Dorothy is survived by a special friend, Vinnie Keegan of Ryan.; three children, Jerry (Kathy) Wolfe of Manchester, Karen (Marvin) Ries of Ryan, and Rick (Carrie) Wolfe of Marion; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Loretta Nebel of Cedar Rapids and Helen Brown of St. Louis, MO.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Wolfe in 1966; her parents, John Peter and Mary Grieff; a granddaughter, Sandy Ries; four sisters, Mildred Pesek, Ruth Minney, Grace Ashby, Marie Sauser; and three brothers, Louis, William, and Donnie Grieff.
