Dorothy J. Smith (Lohman)
November 22, 1923 — February 22, 2007
Dorothy J. Smith, 83, of 155 Robins Rd., died Thursday, January 22, 2007, at St. Luke?s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Dennis Krog. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Private family committal: Lafayette Cemetery, rural Alburnett at a later date.
Survivors include her daughter, Rachel Hart of Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Todd Francher and Billy Francher; three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Darlene Lohman of Cedar Rapids; three nieces; one nephew; and many special friends including Rosie Beadle of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jim Lohman.
Dorothy was born November 22, 1923, the daughter of Harry and Helen (Lane) Lohman in rural Linn County. She was an avid fisherman and mushroom hunter. Dorothy was known for her wonderful "wet kisses? and her unique sense of humor. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
A reception will be held following the service at Just Jules in Cedar Rapids.
