Dorothy M. Simon, 93, of Cedar Rapids died August 19, 2011.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 22, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester by Rev. John Flaherty.
Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 21, 2011 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester with a 5:00 p.m. Rosary Service. Additional visitation: one hour before services at the Church on Monday.
Burial: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
Dorothy was born January 13, 1918 in Mitchell, South Dakota, the daughter of Harry and Claudine (Hilby) Simon. Dorothy attended the University of Iowa College where she received her BA and Masters Degree in Education.
Dorothy taught History, Government and Accounting at Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Dorothy was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She traveled extensively; teaching for a short time in Germany. Dorothy was an avid reader all her life.
Dorothy is survived by two sisters, Darlien Rans of Manchester and Helen Sheston of Dubuque, IA and many nieces and nephews.
