She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie “Wimpy”; son, James W.; parents, Wayne and Maimye Siniard; sister, Laura Stengle; and two infant sisters.
Adelene was born April 15, 1925, in Bessemer, Alabama, daughter of Wayne and Maimye Siniard. She married her childhood sweetheart, Louie “Wimpy” Scroggins on May 3, 1942, and had two beautiful children, Sherry and Jimmy. Following the end of the war, she and Louie moved to Cedar Rapids from Detroit, Michigan. They bought and ran Lincoln Grocery until 1956, at which time Lincoln Grocery was sold. Louie began a career in real estate and eventually opened Lou Scroggins and Company. Adelene was able to stay at home and take care of her family. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and crocheting. Adelene volunteered at St. Luke’s Hospital Auxillary for many years and continued to care for her ailing mother until her death. She never remarried as she knew she would someday be reunited with her one and only love.
Adelene was known for her kind heart, unselfishness and genuine beautiful smile. She will be dearly missed not only by family, but also by her many friends. Take comfort knowing she is now at peace, safely home and waving her little wave.
