Dorothy L. Povlick, 95, of Newhall, Iowa, went to rest in the arms of Jesus, at home Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Services: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2012, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her four children, Marilyn (Ted) Lee of Des Moines, Donald Povlick of Newhall, Judy Irish of Atkins and Larry (Cathy) Povlick of Newhall; nine grandchildren, Chris Mease, Pam Lee, Amy (John) Masolini, Kevin Irish, Julie Chamberlain, Kim (Jay) Montague, Scott Povlick, Jason (Julie) Povlick and Ryan Povlick; seventeen great grandchildren, Jade and Hunter Masolini, Malary Lee, Kody and Kait Irish, Cory and Ben Chambers, Ashley Bortz, Dustin Davis, Kandace Furler, Lacy Cook, Nathan and Levi Montague, Brodie and Delaney Povlick, Sara and Brianna Povlick; and seven and a half great great grandchildren, Natalie Bortz, Blake and Samantha Jones, Alex and Maria Davis, Landon and Reagan Furler and Baby Cook.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; siblings, Donald Ring and Bernice (Max) Smith; and brother-in-law, James (Lenore) Sadilek.
Born July 24, 1916, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dorothy was the daughter of Lewis and Louisa (Ibel) Ring. She was united in marriage to Charles Povlick on February 5, 1934, in Morrison, Illinois. The couple was married 54 years when Charles preceded her in death on September 16, 1988.
Dorothy was a hard working farm wife and loving mother and grandmother. She was a 4-H leader, enjoyed embroidery, gardening, homemaking and doing puzzles with her son Don. She was a woman of quiet strength and deep faith and a long time member of Central Presbyterian Church.
