Dorothy was born May 31, 1917, in Kidder, Missouri and was the eldest child born to Grace Goodrow and Guy McBride. On October 19, 1935, she married S. Calvin Moore and moved to Iowa that same year. While her husband was in the service during WWII, Dorothy purchased the land that later became Moore’s Trailer Court. In 1966 they sold the trailer court, which is now known as Lindale Manor and moved to Lisbon. In 1992, they moved back to Marion and after the death of her husband, Dorothy moved in with her daughter and son-in-law in Marion.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, gardening, cooking, traveling and bowling. She was a long time member of the Marion Christian Church, a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society, and the Silver Society of Farmers State Bank.
Not only was she a great homemaker, she was a beloved wife, wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends because of her compassion and concern and her love of life.
Dorothy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Boni Moore; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jim Albertson; seven grandchildren, Ted Munger, Tim Munger, Theresa Munger, Chris Moore, Nicole Moore, Shawn Albertson, and Kelly Albertson; seven great-grandchildren, Emma and Mattison Munger, Trevor, Cassidy and Jamien Moore, and Ryan and Connor Albertson; and one step-great-grandchild, Micah Anderson.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Calvin; and her daughter, Nancy.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Mercy Hospice as a memorial fund in Dorothy’s honor.
