Dorothy E. Simmons Mills, 96, a resident of the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, died there Tuesday, April 28, 2009, following a short illness. Services: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2009 at First United Methodist Church of Central City by Rev. Mary Green. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A 2:30 p.m. graveside service will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Marengo. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion.

Survivors include her two daughters, Marlene (Lewis) Wasendorf of Anamosa, and Phyllis (Chester) Price of Ryan; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two sisters, Wilma Heefner, and Hilda McLeod; and one grandson, Ricky Wasendorf.

Dorothy was born August 25, 1912, the daughter of John and Emily (Deiter) Allender, in Central City, Iowa. She married Clarence Simmons on March 2, 1935, in Cedar Rapids. Clarence died in November, 1964. Dorothy was married to Ray Mills in September of 1971. He later died. Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Central City.
