Dorothy M. Miller, 85, of Marion, formerly of Central City and Prairieburg, died Saturday, November 18, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home where a parish vigil service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Burial: Czech National Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include three children, Sharon (George) Frondle of Cedar Rapids, Ed (Teresa) Miller of Marion, and Shirley (Doug) Brecht of Marion; a brother, William "Bill? (Juanita) Dlouhy of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Jason Miller, Bryan Miller, Taunia Bradley, Michelle Hatfield, and Marcia Goodell; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Carol Smola; and a grandson, Larry "JR? Kelchen.
Dorothy was born November 15, 1921, the daughter of Frank and Libbie (Pavlicek) Dlouhy in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1940. Dorothy married Ernest E. Miller in 1941 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1996. Dorothy worked at Wilson Meat Packing then owned and operated Miller?s Locker in Prairieburg. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion.
Dorothy loved fishing, hunting mushrooms, playing cards, and going to the casino.
