Dorothy Cress Meekins
July 22, 1924 — August 24, 2003
Dorothy "Dottie? Cress Meekins, 79, of 5155 Sutton Road, Central City, formerly of Reading, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, August 24, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center, following complications from a stroke. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home, Center Point. Services will be held at Sanders Funeral Home, Reading Pennsylvania on Saturday, August 30, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. Burial: Berks County Memorial Garden, Reading, Pennsylvania.
Survivors include her sons, Roy Gordon of Central City, John Cress of Reading, Pennsylvania, Steven Gleason of Iowa City; daughters, Jacquelyn Sell of Reading Pennsylvania, Bonnie Frowick of Des Moines; a sister, Valeta Schnell of Toddville; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William H. Meekins and a brother, Daris Cress.
Dorothy was born July 22, 1924, in the Center Point area, the daughter of Orville and Ruth (Snodgrass) Cress. Dorothy belonged to the Church of God in Reading, Pennsylvania and she was the owner and operator of a Resale Shop. Dot enjoyed buying and selling and loved attending garage sales. She also enjoyed Joyce Meyers, In Touch Ministries and other televised religious programs.
Memorials can be made to Camp Courageous in memory of Dorothy.
