Dorothy A. Meany, 85, formerly of Manchester died Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2012 by Pastor Mike Jackson at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester, IA. Visitation: 1 hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Oakland Cemetery in Manchester.
Dorothy Ann Meany was born February 26, 1927 in Elmore, Minnesota, the daughter of Kenneth Bates and Dora (Unger) Bolin. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1945. Dorothy worked for her mother at the Manchester Maternity Hospital. On September 22, 1951, Dorothy was united in marriage to Paul J. Meany at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester, Iowa. The couple lived near Galena, IL where Dorothy was a housewife. In 1968, they moved to Delaware, Iowa. Paul died November 29, 1969. Dorothy then moved to the Bolin Rest Home, where she helped her parents until it closed in 1972. They then moved to their home on West Marion Street in Manchester, Iowa.
Dorothy was an avid Cubs fan. She enjoyed driving and loved to travel.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Karen Woolsey of Aberdeen, Washington; a nephew, Mark (Julie) Woolsey of Westport, WA.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents; two brothers, infant John Bolin and Earl Bolin; and a brother-in-law, Roy Woolsey.
