Dorothy Margaret Maher, 90, of 1240 South 12th St., Marion, died Saturday, September 3, 2005, in her home from cancer. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church, Marion, by the Rev. Thomas Hedtke. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, from 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, (Sept. 6), and from 10 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the church.
Survivors include her children, Patricia (Elmer) Divis of Marion, Nancy Grell of Marion, Janice Kesselring of Coggon, Linda Maher of Marion, Tim (Elaine) Maher of Nicholasville, Kentucky, and Lori (Tim) Duffy of Rock Island, Illinois; a brother, Marion C. "Babe? Hansen (Voanne) of Marion; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hansen of Cedar Rapids and Donna Hansen of Stroud, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers; one sister; and two grandsons.
Dorothy was born November 3, 1914, the daughter of Hans Peter Hansen and Meta Marie Seltrecht Hansen in Marion. She was a 1933 graduate of Marion High School. Dorothy married Forrest Hunter and they later divorced. She then married Walter Maher on June 30, 1944. Walter died May 30, 1954. Dorothy was a longtime retail sales clerk, retiring from Queen & Teen store in Marion. She was a member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church and a longtime member of Milwaukee Women?s Club.
