Dorothy A. Haas, 70, of Manchester, died Monday, February 25, 2008 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester following a brief illness.
Graveside memorial services will be at a later date. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester is in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy was born March 28, 1937 in Manchester, the daughter of Anthony E. and Grace (Rainbird) Hansen. She attended Manchester High School then worked at Ertl Toys in Dyersville and Henderson Manufacturing in Manchester. Dorothy earned her CNA and CMA licenses and worked at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester and the Delaware County Home (now the Penn Center), before retiring in 2002. In 1979, Dorothy married Cletus Haas at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Manchester. Cletus died December 10, 1991.
Dorothy was a past-member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, the VFW Auxiliary and Eagle’s Club of Manchester. She enjoyed playing cards, gambling on the boat, bingo, shopping, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by five children, Edwin Chambers, Jr. of Marshalltown, Lonnie Chambers of Rolla, MO, Joe (Cheryl) Chambers of Windsor, CO, Craig Haas, serving in Kuwait and Shelly (Todd) Elledge of Ryan; twelve grand-children; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Haas of Manchester and Karolyn (Roger) Clemens of Dubuque; and two brothers, Arlo (Sharon) Hansen and Vincent Hansen, both of Manchester.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Grace Hansen; her husband, Cletus Haas; and two sisters, Patty Rasmussen and Joanne Hutchinson.
