Dorothy M. Gingerich, 76, a resident of Crestview Acres, Marion, died Friday, October 29, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 1, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Gary Dobbins. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m., Sunday, October 31, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial: Wilcox Cemetery, Viola, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Deb Licht of Lowden, Iowa, Richard Gingerich of Wellington, Kansas, and David Gingerich and Kevin Gingerich both of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael; her parents; four brothers, Harold, Donald, James and Louie; and a son-in-law, Larry Licht.
Dorothy was born May 19, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of David Arthur and Mary (Drumbarger) Reed. On November 19, 1948, she married Harlan Gingerich. He died on December 23, 1988. She was on the Board of Mental Health Advocates. Dorothy enjoyed puzzles, crosswords, reading, traveling and visiting friends.
