Dorothy Jane Fritz (Rasplicka)
October 4, 1926 — May 17, 2007
Dorothy Jane Fritz, 80, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center, died Thursday, May 17, 2007, at the care center, following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Del Bear. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha.
Survivors include two children, John (Pat) Fritz and Kathy (Ed) Pogue, both of Marion; five grandchildren, Becky (Jay) McCarty, Rusty Ann (Cory) Keeney, Jenny (Travis) Hawkins, Terra (Mason) Akers, and Kyle Pogue; seven great-grandchildren, Jayson, Payton, and Madison McCarty, Chase and Cora Keeney, Erika Hawkins, and Jordyn Akers.
Also surviving are a brother, William (Mary) Rasplicka of Sigourney; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Edmunds of Cedar Rapids; and a very special pet and companion, “Buddy”.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rusty; a brother, John Rasplicka; a sister, Mary Ann Reeder; a nephew, Jeff Rasplicka; and a special pet, “Jake”.
Dorothy was born October 4, 1926, the daughter of John and Lillian Rasplica in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids. On June 20, 1950, she married Eugene “Rusty” Fritz in Arkansas. He died March 26, 1993. Dorothy was a homemaker and worked at Rockwell Collins as an Assembly Operator for many years.
She was a member of IBEW Local #1362 of Cedar Rapids.
Dorothy was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who know and loved her.
