Dorothy B. Brown (Power)

Dorothy B. Brown, 96, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, June 25, 2009. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Bob Dagit. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her sons, Ray (Irma) Brown of Cedar Rapids and Clifford (Mary) Brown of Benson, Arizona; a sister, LaVona Jones; nine grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, LaVonne Pierce; and a grandson, Melvin Brown.
Dorothy was born February 20, 1913, the daughter of Frank and Elsie (Gaines) Power in Waubeek. On September 26, 1929, she married Raymond D. Brown. He died in 1992.
The family would like to thank Evergreen Estates I for more than eight years of caring for Dorothy.
Dorothy was a member of Valley View Baptist Church.
A memorial fund has been established in Dorothy’s memory.
