Dorothy Ione Adams
October 3, 1921 — January 20, 2006
Dorothy I. Sasek Adams, 84, of the Virginia Gay Hospital & Annex, Vinton, Iowa, died there Friday, January 20, 2006, following a lingering illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Thomas McDermott. The family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2006, at the funeral home, with a parish vigil service at 5:30 p.m. Interment: St. John?s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Benham; her daughter, Linda (Allen) Simanek of Walker; and stepsons, Robert (Judy) Adams of Burlington, and Barry (Lois) Adams of Vinton.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Dustin, John, and Ben Clausen, and B.J. Adams; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; stepsister, Carol Riebkes of Wellman; and special friend, Millie Kasper of Marion.. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank and stepbrother, Lowell Jones.
Dorothy was born October 3, 1921, in Parkersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Hazel (Phillips) Geater. On October 12, 1942 in Waterloo, Iowa, she was united in marriage to Frank "Bing? Sasek. He died February 8, 1985. On July 8, 1989, she married Benham Adams in Cedar Rapids. Dorothy was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling, spending time outdoors and fishing. She also loved spending time with her family.
