Doris E. Wilson, 69, of Anamosa, formerly of Waubeek, died March 13, 2006, in her home, surrounded by family, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City by the Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; her children, Diane (Steve) Hartwig of Marion, Richard Wilson Jr. of Anamosa, Cindy (Brent) Kenney of Flowery Branch, Georgia, David (Ronda) Wilson of Central City, Lynn (John) Yundt of Vinton and Rodney (Teri) Wilson of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Virginia Bern of Aurora; twelve grandchildren, Raymond Hartwig, Mike Hartwig, Steve Hartwig, Derek Hartwig, Kirk Kenney, Kristi Wilson, Autumn Nielson, Nicholas Yundt, Ashley Wilson, Brendon Wilson, Erica Wilson and Jordan Wilson; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Kenney, Tiffany Thompson and Mitchell Gray; and her beloved dog, Misty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Harry Johnson, Ivan Johnson, Lester Johnson, Darrel Johnson and Walter Johnson Jr.; and a sister, Violet Groth.
Doris was born June 14, 1936, the daughter of Walter and Ida (McFarland) Johnson in Wadena. On November 7, 1953, she married Richard Wilson in Manchester. Doris owned and operated Little Chef Café in Central City for five years and worked for several years at Jacks. However, her main concern in life was caring for her family. She was one of the best cooks around; enjoying food and having others cook for her. Doris loved vacationing, traveling and gambling.
