Doris M. Sievers, 66, of 1221 29th St. NE, formerly of Springville, died Monday, May 21, 2007, at St. Luke's Hospital, from complications of cancer. The family will greet friends from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, May 25th, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. A short prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m.
Survivors include her husband, Hardy of Cedar Rapids; children, Sharon (Jim) Pilling of Mediapolis, Mark McKinstry of Thousand Oaks, California, Linda (Scott) Dickinson of Raleigh, North Carolina, Paula (Jim) Jakoubek of Cedar Rapids, and Wayne (Patty) McKinstry of Walford; step-sons, Ted (Cheryl) Sievers of Los Angeles, California and Rick (Kelly) Sievers of Santa Monica, California; twenty grandchildren, Daniel, Molly, Emily, Meagan, Taylor, Elizabeth, Tyler, Sam, Jessica, Allison, Ashlee, Adam, Micah, Olivia, Kaeli, Brittany, Tara, Kiana, Cate, and Ruby; and three great-grandchildren, Kian, Kiana, and Serenity.
Also surviving are two brothers, Jerry (Joyce) Fehlhafer of Cedar Rapids and Ronald (Rita) Fehlhafer of Springville; and a sister, Lina (John) Flender of Silver Springs, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Doris was born September 18, 1940, the daughter of Verni and Lavirn (Breitsprecher) Fehlhafer in Vinton. She graduated from Springville High School in 1958. On December 29, 1979, she married Hardy Sievers in Central City.
Family and friends meant everything to Doris. She believed relationships were built by taking the time to learn new things about people. She found joy in spending time with those closest to her and made many new friends over the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Anna Purna Ghosh Foundation in memory of Doris.
