Doris Jean Kula, 86, of Waubeek, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 12, 2022. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date, at Jordan's Grove Cemetery.
Doris was born on October 9, 1935, in Coggon, Iowa, the daughter of Dale and Geniva (Smith) Halstead. She was a 1953 graduate of Alburnett High School and went on to obtain a business degree from Coe College. On September 14, 1957, Doris was united in marriage to Delbert V. Kula. For 33 years she was the principal’s secretary for the Central City Public School System. Doris loved her rose bushes, bowling and monthly retirement luncheons with teachers. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan, Ravens fan, and loved spending time with her family. Doris will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Doris is survived and lovingly remembered by her children Tami Neal of Central City, and Mike (Lori) Kula of Center Junction, Iowa; grandchildren, Ryan Neal of Waubeek, Iowa, and Eric (Jessica) Kula of Anamosa, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Neal and Rylee Neal; brother, Gary Halstead of Coggon; and sister, Evelyn Dahle of Babik, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Doris’s name has been established.
