Doris Evelyn Hinchliffe (Kitchen)
August 21, 1929 — March 3, 2009
Doris Evelyn (Kitchen) Hinchliffe, 79, of Bertram, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion. The family will greet friends from 4 -7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Campbell Cemetery in Bertram.
Survivors include her daughter, Charlene Kay Hinchliffe and her husband Rev. Michael Lowrey of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a granddaughter, Kelly Jeanette Aurora Lowrey. She is also survived by dear friends and caregivers, Debbie and Randy Fossum, of Mt. Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Darrell F. Kitchen.
Doris was born August 21, 1929, in rural Bertram to Floyd E. Kitchen and Sara Eunice (Kinrade) Kitchen. She attended country school in Bertram, McKinley High School and later completed her GED in the Mt. Vernon School System. She married Charles F. Hinchliffe and to this union, was born a daughter, Charlene. They later divorced. Doris was a long time volunteer and Bertram community member. She was active at Bertram United Methodist Church and the Linn County Historical Museum Association. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and was a devoted friend to many.
