Doris Richardson Airy, 83, of 1625 Brendelwood, formerly of Blairstown, died Tuesday, September 14, 2004, at the Meth-Wick Community Woodlands Care Facility after a short illness. Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, September 16, 2004, at Marion Christian Church by Rev. Robert Kunz. Friends may call from 5 - 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Airy of Cedar Rapids and Helen Wilkinson of Walford; a son-in-law, Larry Wilkinson; and three brothers, Robert Richardson of Dallas, Texas, B. Phil Richardson and Jim Richardson of Montgomery, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents; and her sister, Rebecca Parker.

Doris was born, December 1, 1920, in LaGrange, Georgia, to Griffith and Ruth Huff Richardson. She was united in marriage to Raymond Paul Airy on September 3, 1951, in LaGrange, Georgia. Mr. and Mrs. Airy farmed in the Derby, Marion, and Blairstown areas for over 38 years. They retired from farming in 1989 and moved to Cedar Rapids. She worked for the Benton Community Schools, from 1968-1983, as a high school teacher?s associate, elementary and high school media specialist. She graduated from LaGrange, Georgia, High School in 1938. She obtained her college degree in Library Science from the University of Northern Iowa in 1973. Doris was a member of Marion Christian Church and Order of Eastern Star Morning Star Chapter 108. She served as church clerk, financial secretary, Sunday school teacher, and deaconess at the Blairstown Presbyterian Church.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be made in Doris?s memory to Marion Christian Church, St. Luke?s Hospice, or to CBInternational Bibles for China.
