Doran “El Dorno” Miller,”thrill-seeker extraordinaire,” left this world on Monday, May 30. 2011, to start his next big adventure.
Doran was born May 6, 1941 in Center Point, Iowa, to Jack and Maxine Miller. He graduated from Center Point High School in 1959. Doran married Mary Jane Morris on June 1, 1963. He had two exceptionally gifted children, Tracy Miller and Rod Miller.
Doran lived life on his own terms, traveling to LasVegas, Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, and California as a dedicated and loyal union journeyman electrician. He loved a good adventure and always had a good story to share with anyone.
Doran is survived by his children, Tracy Miller and Rod Miller; Rod’s wife, Dana; and four grandchildren, Zach, Maverick, Lindsey, and Jake. Also surviving are his sister Jaxine Corum; his former wives, Mary Jane, and Darla Anderson; and a step-daughter, Kari Embree.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Rocky Miller; and his special friend, Arlette Coleman.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at IBEW Local 405 Electrician’s Union Hall, 1211 Wiley Blvd SW, Cedar Rapids, from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011. Please come and share your favorite memories and celebrate a life well-lived with Doran’s family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Doran’s honor.
