Donna Lucille Jane Mangold, 89, formerly of Coggon, died at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, Thursday, June 25, 2009. Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Central City, by Rev. Mary Green. The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Coggon Cemetery, Coggon.
Survivors include her children, Dr. Duane (Lenny) Mangold of Ames, William (Jean) Mangold of Coggon, Dawn (Dr. John) Mayer of Neola; six grandchildren, Anne (Bill) Johnson, Amy (Attila) Konkoly, Adam (Robin) Mangold, Rebecca (Kyle) VonBehren, Jacob and Tedd Mayer; five great-grandchildren, Heather and Courtney Johnson, Ibolya, Béla, Ákos Konkoly; and two sisters, Pat Graser and Betty Duffy, both of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur; two sisters, two brothers; and one half-brother.
Donna was born October 16, 1919, in Dow City, Iowa to Daniel and Jennie (Hastings) Graul. She was married to Wilbur Mangold on May 20, 1937, in Independence, Iowa. He died July 12, 2006. Donna enjoyed playing cards, hand stitched crafts, and quilting. She will be remembered for her “Donna Cakes”, home cooked meals, and many cups of coffee served to family and friends.
