Donald “Donnie” A. Wilson, 58, of Robins, Iowa, died suddenly on Sunday, February 28, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from complications of heart disease. Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 5, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Rev. Del Bear. The family will greet friends from 4 – 8 p.m., Thursday, March 4, 2010, at the funeral home.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Wilson of Cedar Rapids, 2 sons, Brandon (Heather) Wilson of Alburnett, and Darren (Shelly) Wilson of Marion; stepsons, Brett Pechota of Bertram and Josh Pechota of Toddville; Grandchildren, Myah, Jaymus and Zeplyn Wilson, and Alexis, Payton, and Daven Wilson; siblings, Richard (Gale) Wilson of Marion, Ruth (Ron) Manley of Cody, Wyoming, and Donna (Benjamin) Bradshaw of rural Alburnett; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin; and a brother, Butch, who died in infancy.
Donnie was born September 16, 1951, the son of Marvin and Dorothy (Ransier) Wilson, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Marion High School. Donnie married Nancy Maxfield in June, 1973. They later divorced. He married Peggy Pechota in November, 1986. They later divorced. Donnie worked for several construction companies before going on his own and being active in auto sales, commercial storage, and what he was most proud of, driving his Mack dump truck, “Plum Crazy.” He was a former mud racer with some good friends and family and enjoyed watching his boys race. His passions were wheelin’ & dealin’, grilling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Donnie was a man of his word and was very respected by those who knew him.
