Donald E. Webster, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, February 21, 2015, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. John Howerton. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 24. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; sons, Dennis and Donald, both of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Carrie Ford, Donald Webster, Jr., and Stephanie (Ray) Fritz; ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bonnie Westcott; brother-in-law, Robert Millage; his dog, Benny; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Marvin Webster, Lorretta Webster, Irene Franks, Jessie Franks, Velma Morarie, Leonard Webster, Eugene Webster, Lyle Webster, Leland Webster, Isabelle Giovazzi, Mary Jane Millage and Joyce Ray.
Donald was born July 27, 1936, the son of Leslie and Mabel (Wenger) Webster, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On May 10, 1958, he was united in marriage to Mary M. Varner in Rock Island, Illinois. Donald worked as a welder for Cedar Rapids Inc, retiring after 36 years of service. He was a member of the Machinist Union.
Donald enjoyed watching NASCAR and sports, especially football. He also enjoyed camping and CB Radio using his handle of Weekend Lover. Donald loved being a sneaky guy and telling jokes.
